    About the Championship Series

A Championship Series is scheduled throughout every virtual horseracing season (4 months) over varied distances for each age category. The series culminates in a Championship Final which is held during the last week of every season. Big prize money is sponsored on both the Qualifying Races and the Championship Finals which is put up by Digiturf.com.

To be eligible for Qualifying Races, your horse must have:
    • A minimum of 1 race win for 2yr olds and 2 race wins for 3 to 7yr olds.
    • Paid the once-off supplementary fee (US$2.00 at purchase of horse, or US$50.00 at any other time). This will enable your horse to race in valuable Qualifying races and finals for its entire career.

To find a suitable Qualifying Race to enter, simply use the filter function on the RACE PROGRAM and ENTER RACE pages. You can also view the point standings through the CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS menu option under the RACES menu item.

How to Qualify For A Final

Horses are invited to race in the Championship Finals based on points earned in the Qualifying Races held throughout the four-month season (see points table below).

Each time you race in a Qualifier, you will earn points for that particular Qualifier Race series. The 14 Horses who have accumulated the most points in each Qualifier by the end of the season are then invited to compete in the corresponding Championship Final Race.

    • There is no entry fee for the Championship Finals.
    • A horse can participate in more than one category of Qualifying races and earn points towards the final in that category.
    • All Championship Series participants will be allowed to race in as many Finals as they have qualified in.
    • Qualification for any of the Championship Finals is determined automatically, according to the list of 14 top points earners in each category.
    • Your horse needs to race in the corresponding Qualifiers for each Championship Series Final. The more Qualifiers it completes the more points it earns towards the making the Top 14 list of Championship Series contenders. You can monitor its progress under the Championship Series Points Standings.

    Rules

Where there are two horses that tie on points for 14th spot in a championship final and only one horse of the two can be selected to run in the final, the following rules apply:

    1) Points. In the event that there are 2 horses with equal points, the system then looks at:
    2) Number of qualifying races (the horse who got the points by running the least no of qualifiers goes through). If these are equal, then the system looks at:
    3) Best Position (the horse that ran the best position in the qualifiers goes through). If these are equal, then the system looks at:
    4) Number of Wins (The horse that had the most number of wins in the qualifiers goes through). If these are equal, then the system looks at:
    5) Earnings (the horse with the most earnings goes through).

    Points Table

The championship points system has been designed and implemented to give a fairer point allocation to horses entered in all Championship Series events.

This points system is particularly important for second instances of races. With such a points system members entered in the first instance are not at a disadvantage as would be the case if the points earned in a second instance having fewer runners was the same.

The table below shows the points that are allocated to according to the number of entries in the race:

Two points are allocated to every horse entered. These two points have been included in the table.

    Consolation Races

Horses that missed making the Top 14 are automatically entered into the corresponding Championship Series’ Consolation race.

Consolation races are sponsored with bonus credits and entrance is free.

    Consolation Races work as follows:

•After the Finals have been declared, the next 14 horses with the highest points and according to the Championship rules will automatically be entered into the first instance of the corresponding Consolation race, while the following 14 horses will automatically be entered into the second instance using the same criteria, and so on.
•Sponsorships are tiered for each instance of the Consolation Races, and will therefore decrease per instance.
•Consolation Races will be set up at the beginning of a season but will only appear on the race calendar page on the same day as the corresponding Championship Final fields are declared and once all qualifiers have run.
•Where a stable has more than 4 horses in terms of points making the same instance, there will be a maximum of 4 horses from any one stable running in the same instance. Therefore horse/s with the lowest points from that stable will be placed into the next instance.
•Note: A horse must remain in an ‘Active’ status from Midnight (GMT) of the day prior to the running of the Consolation race it is scheduled to run in or it will be rejected from the race.
